marc curtis smith: Vancouver, BC, Canada; Art should be engaging and give you something back in return. Usually admiration and pride are experienced in the presence of a great piece, yet art can easily become something that we can fail to acknowledge in your daily passing. Every artist hopes to imagine and produce work that consistently draws the spectator in. Time and time again, artists attempt to take the audience to a place in their mind that builds thought and wonder. In my work, I strive towards bringing functionality to the art piece by creating something aesthetically pleasing and placing curiosity in the viewer, instilling a need to interact with these beautiful and fully operational instruments. I hope that you will use that imbued creativity towards a musical end, where my art becomes an outlet towards their melodic form.
